How about the issues with 'recorded' Audio as in…I used the Video recorder to record a friends Band playing. I get home plug in the new AKG Earbuds, the sound is rich and full but THEN the audio fades to paper thine and tinny! It fades back and forth like this throughout several recorded songs, sounding great then sounding like a 1950's AM transistor radio! And it's not the Earbuds as the sound fades back and forth with my old S4 Earbuds too. And…my finger never came close to covering the external microphone. Is this acceptable for a $1000.00 phone?

I am very disappointed with note 8 sound quality. For a 900 dollar phone it was just blown away by a 3 yr old Motorola razor. Plugged into Harman kardon speakers the speakers came alive and I was left looking stupid even with adaptive settings on.

Premium sound, right…too bad you can clearly hear the bass-cutoffs that this phone makes during loud environment recordings…and Oreo didn't fix it either…many concert recordings, all of them are useless…

I never could understand why people held these damn phones up to there face and holding it flat. lo Now i find myself doing this cause the volume on these note 8s suck I can hardly hear it and its always on speaker phone I really do miss my HTC one max with dual speakers and volume to hear it. When i switched to this phone a few months ago i didnt even think about the speakers or the volume .I just assume something so simple and low tech wouldnt be an issue. Cant wait to trade this over priced thing in for a phone i can hear and dont have to look like im taking a bite out of it

Everything depends on soundalive adjustment. Before the samsung update, it was possible to turn on uhq upscaler, surround effect, other good effects without headphone. but now we cant and it sucks!!!@!!! wtf!!!!!!!!@!

Pity you tested the Snapdragon version that always has poor sound. Exynos N8 has a Cirrus Logic DAC and with Poweramp alpha and enabled Hi-Res Output it sounds amazing. Better than already great Note 4 N910C. It's so good that I'm actually sceptical if LG V30 gets much, if any, better. I will check it out soon and probably add results to this comment. Listening on Sony XBA-H3.

+Pocketnow Do you or anyone else know how to raise the on the sometimes very low volume that comes via bluetooth headphones with the note 8? I use Jaybird X3s. Still havent found a good equalizer app.. any suggestions are appreciated.

It's all well and good but going from Apple to Samsung, I've found that no matter what I do with the music and sound settings, the music I play on my Note8 is muddy, like I'm listening on Beats headphones. I'm using Klipsch X6i earbuds on my iPhone 6s and I can hear very clearly the "tsss" sound of a snare, whereas It sounds muffled on the Note 8.

Ok … Got the Mate 9 after turning in the Note 7 back in January when VZW bricked the phone by not letting it charge the phone without it being plugged in to the wall….. Mortified when I plugged in the ear buds… Jaun the rescue with the Fiio K1…. Dongle shame …. LOL…but it worked ….. Got the note 8 2 weeks ago….. Great phone great screen great device ….not great audio but better than the Mate 9 …. Tried the Fiio K1 …. Doesnt work in the note 8 usb c ….sees it as an audio device ….but no audio out…bummer…Bluetooth Sony extra base ears buds are servicable on the note 8 …I didn't care for the buds out I'd the box at all.

My biggest gripe is going to the EQ in the note which is nice I can change the levels BUT THEY DONT OR ARE NOT SAVED SO YOU HAVR TO GO IN EACH TIME AND RE SET THEM….SMH
I will report back on any improved solutions….but there seems to be no perfect device yet ….
